On April 25, our team headed to Russei Cheah Village for a dedicated Health Camp Screening. This initiative is a vital part of our ongoing community outreach, designed to tackle the "silent" threat of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through early detection, education, and personalized care.
we provided detailed health assessments for 43 community members
Gender Participation: 74% Female (32) | 26% Male (11)
Detection Rate: 37% of participants (16 individuals) were identified with suspected or confirmed NCD conditions.
Primary Concerns: Most cases involved Hypertension (high blood pressure) and Diabetes, alongside other NCD risk factors.
Every participant identified with a health concern received immediate counseling on lifestyle modifications and a formal referral to the nearest health facility for long-term management.
Key Challenges
Low turnout of participants, limiting the overall coverage and effectiveness of the screening. Possible contributing factors include limited prior awareness, competing community activities, and timing constraints.
Lessons Learned:
Effective collaboration and coordination among key stakeholders—village leaders, Health Center (HC) staff, Church Health Committee (CHC) members, and community volunteers—played a crucial role in successful implementation. Local leadership engagement significantly supported logistical organization and community trust.
